About UsThe Vassall Centre Trust
Our charity was set up in 1998 to create barrier-free workspace and provide employment and voluntary opportunities for disabled people. We demonstrate how workspace can be designed and built without the barriers that disable people. Accessible places of work offer employment opportunities and genuine equality for disabled people. Chair's Statement: Sue McMullen
One of the many delightful things is to see visitors catching the spark and enthusiasm of our staff and trustees. "This is all so much more inspiring than I had expected" is a comment we frequently hear. My hope is that visitors to the website are inspired to help us and others to create more barrier-free environments. We choose to use the term "barrier-free" because the word "accessibility" no longer has any challenging meaning. It has become debased by mis-use. Disabled people know that buildings can cause us significant disadvantage, unless they have been planned to take account of the different ways in which disabled people carry out everyday tasks. If our ideas excite you and you would like to know more please contact us - and we will spread a bit more enthusiasm your way! Sue McMullen.
