The Vassall Centre Trust

Funding and Fundraising

In 1997, the founders successfully negotiated the purchase of the Vassall Centre from the Ministry of Defence at considerably below its market value. The freehold was purchased with help from friends and supporters who generously donated £400,000.

Around £2.9m has been raised to purchase the building and make over half of the Centre "barrier-free".

Fund raising to be barrier free

Around £3m is still required to complete the transformation of the Vassall Centre into the first barrier-free facility of its kind in the UK.

Running the Charity

Once the entire Centre is "barrier-free" and fully occupied, the Vassall Centre Trust will be financially self-sufficient. Until then, the charity relies on donations to meet running costs and to extend its services to people throughout the UK.
